January 2010 - Ezy Reading:
Limoilou
Evan Kanarakis

I came to-
voices outside
in the street.
Couldn’t tell if they were laughter or tears.

I thought of you-
some fragment
from some day
we’d shared.

I wondered-
if you remembered it too.
Or if it was something
you now had to forget.

I checked the time-
late.
You rarely slept a peaceful night.
That I do recall.

I closed my eyes-
hoped for swift return
to slumber.
Wishful thinking.

I sat up-
defeated.
Imagined you finally free
from yourself.

I listened-
outside the voices faded.
Lost into the last of night.

Some memories go there too.
