Ezy Reading: Half Empty

Evan Kanarakis

She wasn't the first
But he'd never leapt so far
A willing captive
From the moment Autumn spoke

Asked of her
'Take me away from this place'
With a smile and an embrace
She drew him in

It was a cool breeze
That swept across the lake
Found himself in a peace
That warmed his weary bones

Such a cruel trick
But a glimpse
Of flying
That would never keep

Already broken
His pull pushed her away
Lost his crown
And lost his heart

Drawn out from a blissful dream
Condemned to search forever
To try and revisit a feeling
She was the last
