America Elects A Bigot

Though we would love to be in a celebratory mood given this is The Cud's anniversary issue, in the aftermath of the recent U.S Presidential election our staff are left -like so many around the United States and across the world- asking questions. Over the past several days people have had time to reflect on the outcome and on the many reasons for Donald Trump's victory -not least a significant number of Americans who demanded change because they felt excluded and forgotten. Analysis of this election will continue for decades to come.

But in the short term, and as much as we all hope that Donald Trump will prove to be an inclusive, successful President for ALL people, we are also left with another truth- as assessed so eloquently by Charles M. Blow of the New York Times in this short but powerful op-ed piece.
